President Abbas criticized for frequent travels
As the term of the Palestinian presidency is set to expire, President Mahmoud Abbas’ leadership style is becoming an issue. Ordinary Palestinians are now grumbling about Abbas’s frequent travels abroad despite an ongoing crisis at home. It is pointed out that Abbas as president has not visited West Bank towns like Hebron, Jenin, Qalqiliya and Tulkarem. Abbas’ aids argue that he is helping the Palestinian cause by rallying international support, and that day-to-day government falls to the prime minister.
