41 PLC members still detained
On the second anniversary of the apprehension of several Palestinian lawmakers after the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit by Palestinian factions, 41 lawmakers are still in Israeli jails. Ahmad Shweidih, minister of prisoners’ affairs in the de facto cabinet in Gaza argues that the lawmakers are being detained as political hostages.
The majority of the imprisoned lawmakers are members of the Hamas-affiliated Change and Reform-bloc.
