«Honour charter» seeks revival of PLC
A committee consisting of members from Palestinian leftist parties along with Islamic Jihad and Hamas have met in Gaza to doscuss the issue of national dialogue.
The five party group has begun drafting an «Honour Charter» to govern factional cooperation. The group agreed on the Prisoners’ Document from 2006 and the Cairo declaration from 2005 as good starting points for discussion.
Among other principles agreed upon is the reactivation of the Palestinian Legislative Council an accordance with the Basic Law. The group also advocates the formation of a national unity government.
