The Palestinian Human Rights organization Al-Haq has released a report on arbitrary detention and torture in Palestinian prisons. According to the report, there has been a dramatic increase in the arbitrary arrest and torture of political opponents by both Fatah and Hamas.
Hamas member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Yahya Al-Abadsah, calls on the de facto government in the Gaza Strip to stop all “illegal procedures against charities and civil society associations” and the arbitrary arrest of political opponents.
Al-Abadsah stresses that human rights and public freedoms are guaranteed by Palestinian basic law.
